Master Pete McKeown is a 5th degree black belt in Taekwondo. The name Taekwondo is derived from the Korean word "Tae" meaning foot, "Kwon" meaning fist and "Do" meaning way of. So, literally Taekwondo means "the way of the foot and fist", but more importantly Taekwondo has been a "way of life" for the McKeown family.
Sidekick ("yup chagi" in Korean) is a type of kick, but Sidekick is also a stock character, a close companion who assists a partner in a superior position. In a day and age where "loyalty" seems a thing of the past, we teach our student to respect each other, respect authority, respect your elders, and respect yourself.
At Sidekicks, we adhere to these 3 simple principles... "be Respectful, to be Willing to Learn, and be Willing to Share"
If you've always want to learn some kind of martial art or self defense then Sidekicks is the place for you? Why?
Master McKeown will tell you the story of how he felt so intimidated the first time he walked out onto the training floor with his pajamas (Dobok or Gi) on. Everyone is nervous at first, but that should NEVER stop you from starting.
Master McKeown will customize a class for you so you learn in a comfortable environment. If you are older or larger or stiffer than you wished you were, he has a program for you.
Master McKeown youngest student is 3 years old, and she broke a 1" board with a kick; and his oldest student is 53 years old and he is a 3rd Degree Black belt now.
So come on... Get started today. Enough with the excuses. Give us a call. |
